- Poijik
I'm playing online as 'Poijik', it feels good to get in early and keep my name.
- SOCOM Online
I just got my PS2 Network Adapter and SOCOM tonight. The adapter was easy to set up but SOCOM was another story. From what I hear on the boards, the SOCOM servers are having lot's of problems. I was not able to connect until around midnight. When I did get connected I had a great time. The game is a lot of fun and it feels so different playing a networked game on the PS2.
- Baseball Strike
I received this funny email about the baseball strike. Good stuff.
- Segway Hasn’t Got a Clue
I'm not a fan of the Segway Human Transporter (HT). This article by Paul Gaiser really sums up my issues with the Segway. It's sad that a company with a lot of money can change the laws of fifty states. I remember when skateboarding became a crime, too bad they think to lobby first.
They are really trying to put the best spin on the so-called safety of the Segway. They claim that local police departments have used them and that they will be effective for postal employees. I wonder about the validity of those statements. Of course they are safe when the police are riding them, everyone get's out of the way for a police officer. I'm sure that the police officers driving Segways were showing more consideration than the average motorized pedestrian will if these become popular. If a 10 year old on a skateboard is considered unsafe why should I believe that an 80 pound device with a 180 pound passenger moving at 12 mph is safe? The idea of postal workers using these things does not seem very safe either. I see my postman every day and he has to go up and down steps, in and out of doorways, and sort mail while he is walking. How is someone supposed to do that while driving a motorized vehicle on the sidewalk?
This article from Postal Voice mentions some of these issues.
- CART Fury Championship Racing
I just bought CART Fury Championship Racing tonight. It was only $17.00, used. Not a bad deal.
