- Le Mans 24 Hours Update
Last night I finished the Le Mans 24 minute race. Just six laps and a best lap time of 3:48:936. Of all the tracks I know this one the least. It took more than a few tries to get the win. I had to change the downforce setting to low in order to get enough speed because because I was too lazy to qualify. It took a few laps to finally pass all 23 cars.
- Petit Le Mans
Tonight I completed the Petit Le Mans 30 minute race. I managed to squeeze in 23 laps and my best lap time was 1:10:361.
I also realized that I can save my progress on the long Le Mans races! This is big news and means that I will probably be going for a 100% completion on this game. It turns out that when you pit there is an option to save your current progress. This means that I will be able to 'log' 10 or 24 hours towards completing each of the long Le Mans races. I can't wait.
- Quick Race Mode - Complete
Working my way through the game tonight. I cleared the Quick Race mode tonight. Surprisingly enough, the reverse tracks were not very difficult.
I also finished the first Petit Le Mans race. I'm very doubtful that I will ever finish this game 100%. I just can't see myself finishing either of the last two Le Mans races, 10 hours and 24 hours each. That's just totally out of control, especially because you can't save your progress. 10 hours, maybe – 24 hours, never.
- Will I Ever Finish GT3?
I'm not really focused on GT3 at the moment because the last 6 gold medals that I need to complete the game are gonna be really difficult. So instead of playing GT3 I started playing Le Mans 24 Hours. The game is much more fun than it looks.
The physics are fun, not as real as GT3 and no where near as real (read: annoying) as EA Sports F1 2001.
With Quick Race, Championship, Petit Le Mans, Le Mans, and Time Trials; the scope of the game is very complete. It's just too much fun to have a game with so much to complete. And with so many different challenges it really makes the most of the different tracks available. There are a total of 15 different tracks to learn.
Tire wear is a factor and it's most noticable bite comes in the form of the dreaded spinout. Nice touch and more fun than just not being able to turn. I wish the tire wear indicator used a better color scheme. It's really hard to tell when the tires are gone. I have noticed a fair lack of grip while the indicator still appears green, maybe yellow-green. I prefer the tire wear indicator for GT3.
So far I've finished Championship mode and I will probably start on Quick Race mode this week. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
